Food Photography & The Taste of Table

Sometimes when we see the world in Black & White, it helps to focus our attention to the fine details around us (and not to the rigid distinctions). This is especially true when it comes to the world of food and culinary artistry. We notice features like knife cuts, texture and kitchen action.

Photographer and artist, Karen Sigler has captured the world of TABLE food in beautiful close-ups and dreamy details: it is as though we can almost step into the moment and hear the sounds of the preparation, cooking and serving.

Sigler is a professional designer and artist who lives in Maine. Her focus has been on industrial design, and the “how-to’s” of form and function inform her style.

“I love the nooks and crannies and the fine details.  I like to capture the things that we notice but don’t always acknowledge out-loud.  Our eyes see it, our stomachs start to growl and our mouths start to water. I like to evoke those feelings in the photos I take, ” says Karen.

Her work has graced The Kennebunkport Resort Collection websites and magazines, along with events at the Kennebunkport Festival. Her Black & White food photography will be showcased in the new TABLE facility at 27 Western Avenue in Lower Village, Kennebunk.

She says, “It will be exciting to see the work up on the walls, adding to the energy and atmosphere of the space.”

TABLE and its team are proud the showcase the artistry of local chefs, makers and photographers. Look for more profiles in the weeks to come.
